Optia submitted to Apple!
We finally submitted the game, so we’re just awaiting approval. It’s been months of fine-tuning and beta testing, and we’re really excited to get it out there for people to play.
Optia is now for sale on the App Store!
Check it out! It’s incredibly fun and addictive, and we hope you enjoy it! Optia is only $1.99, and it works on any iPhone or iPod Touch. Get it on the App Store!
Lite version released
Optia Lite is now available for download on the App Store! It has 12 cool levels, and it’s free!
Version 1.1 update - unlocking levels
In Optia version 1.1 (available on the app store now!), we changed the way levels get unlocked.
The levels are split into four groups of 25 levels each, and you can unlock all levels in group by beating at least 15 levels in the previous group. This means that you have access to many more levels than before, and you can play them in any order you like; you no longer have a limited number of “skips”.
Version 1.2 update - Optia remembers where your mirrors are!
You’ve carefully placed your mirrors, and you’re just setting down the last one. You fire the laser, but then notice that the last mirror is one notch off - so the beam reflects all the way back and blows up your laser, and you’ve got to replace all your mirrors after the level restarts. Well, no more! Optia now remembers how your mirrors were set up, so when the level resets, all you have to do is fix the problem and try again!
You may have also run into this when firing single-shot lasers - now that you don’t have to reset everything up again, feel free to test-fire the laser more.
What we're working on now
Optia’s been out for a while, and it’s getting great responses, but we keep getting asked about downloadable or user-submitted levels. We can understand this, because once you beat the 100 levels, there’s not much else to do. So here’s the deal….
We’re currently hard at work on a level editor, as well as a system that’ll make it easy for you to download new levels from us (probably in batches of 25). The editor is easy and fun to use, and it lets you test new levels before you submit them. And don’t worry, there’s going to be a ranking system, too.
We’re excited to release the editor, and we’re looking forward to seeing what types of levels you all create. If you’re interested in beta testing the level editor, send us an email. Otherwise, stay tuned and we’ll post when it’s out!
Minor update, major update
Within the next week, expect to see a minor update to Optia, with improved graphics and integration with the PlayHaven network.
Not to worry, though! This is only a minor stepping stone to our next big update - the level editor. Functionally, it’s nearly complete, so now we’re tackling usernames, uploading and downloading levels, etc.
Also, we have a high-resolution version of Optia for the iPhone 4 almost ready to go; this will be a minor update immediately following the level editor.
As always, if you want to be involved in the editor beta test, send us an email!
Optia is FREE today through appgratuites.com
For the next few days, Optia will be free, as advertised on appgratuites.com. Tell all your friends and take advantage while you can!
Change of plans
We’ve run into some problems integrating the PlayHaven network into Optia, so we’ve decided to hold off on it for the time being.
Instead, our next update will include a number of bonus levels (finally!), a graphics makeover, and fast task switching support.
Optia version 1.3 submitted to Apple!
We’ve sent off the next update to Apple! It’s got 40 new levels and a bunch of improvements, so we’re hoping Apple will approve it promptly.
